Greetings! If you’ve found your way here, you probably have a copy of my resume in your hand, or you’ve received an email from me with a link to my website. You can find a copy of my updated resume HERE.

If you browse through my site, you’ll see that the content is a bit… well, random. It’s because it is a collection of sample blog posts that I’ve put together so that you can see my writing style. I’ve crafted a few posts for a fictitious dentist’s office, a lawyer’s office, a restaurant (press release), a how-to on changing a tire, and I’m working on an informational medical article (coming soon). If you have additional content you’d like to see me tackle, feel free to ask, and I would be happy to write a post on demand. You can email me at veda.e.williams@gmail.com. In addition, I wrote one and a half books (both available on Amazon), You can read a sample of my theming book here.

In addition to writing SEO blog posts, I have extensive experience designing and building HTML email newsletters. I can take photos and shoot and edit audio and video for social media channels, including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Threads, etc. I am adept at using Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Premiere, Final Cut Pro, AVID, Audition, and I also use newer AI technologies, such as ChatGPT and MidJourney. I can also use just about any Office product (Microsoft or Open Source) that may be needed, as well as tools like Asana, Slack, etc. You can see a full listing of tools I’m familiar with on my resume HERE.

I’m not just a writer, though. I’ve been a software tester and web developer for nearly twenty-five years, too. I am currently working at a literacy nonprofit in Chatham County called Chatham Literacy, where I am their Communications and Outreach Coordinator (meaning I update social media posts and take photos and videos). Also, over the last two years, I have been working part-time as a Software Test Engineer at a company in Connecticut called 360Alumni. 360Alumni’s core product is a networking tool for universities and their alumni. My role has been to test and document software releases and to perform data imports for clients. I have also created a large database of tests for use in regression testing.

Prior to 360Alumni, I worked full-time for a company called Teamworks in Durham, NC. Our mission was to provide a full communications portal to empower more than 1700 members of the NCAA, NFL, and international soccer franchises. I performed manual front-end and mobile software testing and occasional automated testing. I also participated in grooming and planning of upcoming sprints and projects. I left Teamworks to go on Federal disability in 2018, but am now able to work part-time, up to 80 hours per month.

Prior to Teamworks, I worked at an environmental non-profit in Seattle, called ONE/Northwest aka Groundwire (now defunct). We built websites and CRMs (customer relationship management systems in Salesforce) for environmental non-profits from Canada to Hawa’ii. At Groundwire, I personally designed and coded hundreds of county / regional websites in a content management system called Plone, which is similar to WordPress. My most intensive project was as lead CSS implementer on the Green Jobs Now national campaign for Van Jones, President Obama’s “Green Czar”. I worked in tandem with Prince (the musician), who was the Creative Director on the project, and with my lead developer.

Before moving to Groundwire, I built and managed 80+ websites for the College of Arts and Sciences at UNC-Chapel Hill. I later supported more than 6000 websites at UNC through Central ITS, and migrated almost every major website on campus to a new content management platform (WordPress), including UNC.edu.

I have also spent a great deal of time working with e-commerce websites. I helped design “from the ground up” multi-million dollar e-commerce websites for Adam & Eve and Sinclair Intimacy Institute (sister sites under PHE, Inc.), TSI Soccer (now Soccer.com), and I’ve built out hundreds of small e-commerce websites (including Bear Grylls / Duck Dynasty / BlackOps) in Miva Merchant, Drupal, WooCommerce and Shopify.

Along the way, I’ve volunteered in homeless shelters, with tigers (Carolina Tiger Rescue), kids in the garbage dumps of Guatemala City (SafePassage.org), spoken at Plone conferences around the world, taught classes on theming, led local user groups, and much, much more…

Nowadays, I am trying to slow down a bit and focus on personal improvement projects (nutrition, exercise, and on catching up on foreign films). I’m also seeking a paid, part-time, long-term position as a blog writer or SEO analyst, if you happen to be hiring. Hint, hint. 🙂
